Doug Kennedy – The Earth's fragile beauty sustains us

Where I Live

I moved to rural Buckinghamshire in 2006, an area west of the Chiltern Hills that I didn’t know at all (I got married) and have been completely charmed by the area and its people. We live in the beautiful village of Cuddington on the valley of the River Thame, and I have become deeply involved in local life through becoming a Parish Councillor, my wife’s good works and my environmental campaigning (see Save The River Thame). Although we are only an hour from central London and the countryside is of gentle agricultural character rather than anything spectacular, there are many corners of great beauty and charm; and then we have the Chiltern Hills only a stone’s throw away. I spend a lot of time walking and running through the lanes, fields and villages and wandering along the banks of the river and have collected some lovely images, a selection of which you can see here.

I have produced and published a beautiful photo book called An English Village Idyll which portrays the villages along the River Thame: it is a photographic essay spread over the four seasons, in which each page turned reveals a new aspect of buildings, people, landscape and wildlife.

Books are available from many good book stores and gift shops (ISBN978-0-9574155-2-2) or can be ordered through this web site or from sales@doug-kennedy.com
