Doug Kennedy – Celebrating Nature Through Words, Images & Music
In this, my new web site, I am making my photography, books, and travel blogs available to enjoy or buy. I also give talks to groups and perform as a folk duo, when I’m not initiating environmental campaigns.
Doug Kennedy: Nature, Landscape, Music And Adventure
Welcome to the world of Doug Kennedy, where rivers flow, landscapes breathe, and music carries a story. Based in Cuddington, in Buckinghamshire, UK, I am a writer, photographer, speaker and musician with a lifelong passion for nature and the environment.
Here you can find stories and images inspired by wild places and the paths that lead to them.
The photograph is of a Eurasian Hoopoe searching for insects in the leaf litter.

What’s happening in March 2026?
- As the water subsides, after winter flooding, I will be testing the River Thame for pollutants (a River Thame Conservation Trust project) and looking out for springtime birds and other wildlife. In the meantime, much is on hold as the government and OfWat work out what should be in Thames Water’s business plan for the next 5 years – now delayed by nearly half a year! The outcome of Channel 4’s ‘Dirty Business’ could affect this if it harden’s public opinion about the company’s environmental record.
- Jamie & Doug’s Folk Night continues on the Friday March 29th for an evening of live acoustic music and jollity.
- On a recent holiday in Thailand, I photographed 94 wildlife species, including many birds and butterflies, some extremely beautiful. I’ve published some on Facebook and Instagram but will try to put more online.
- I have three talks to deliver in the coming month – Wildlife Of The Chiltern Hills in Bicester, My Transylvanian Adventure in Kensington and English Chalk Streams in Hersham, Surrey. If you are interested, check out my Talks page.
- I have lots of beautiful landscape and wildlife photographs that can make interesting and lovely wall art. If you would like to buy a print, picture or greetings cards made from any of my images, you can see a selection on the Photography page, and then just email me. Also, if you are interested in anything in particular, I may have an image or two that would fit the bill.
